Olympic Rebrand
This Olympic Rebrand was designed as a final project for Southern Utah University’s Graphic Design II course. The project began with a group research project where students were able to collaborate diving deep into many aspects of the Olympic games to better understand the process that goes into branding such an iconic publicly visible event. Students then set out to independently redesign a past Olympic games or create a future Olympic game visual identity.
I have always been fond of the Winter Olympics. I have fond memories of watching Figure Skating with my mom and sisters on television during each of the Winter Olympics throughout my childhood; and watching the Snowboard Half-pipe with my father and brothers. I loved it all. Upon beginning research for her location for the Olympic redesign I came up with the idea to recreate a past Olympics by choosing a city that had put in a bid for that year but lost to create a “what could have been” Olympics. Throughout the semester I conceptualized the identity of the Winter Olympic Games in Anchorage, Alaska that could have been.
